Dr. Neena Valecha, Director, National Institute of Malaria Research (NIMR), New Delhi, participated in the (i) International Task Force Meeting on Artemisinin Resistance Containment in South East Asia, (ii) Meeting on Development of a South East Asia Artemisinin Resistance Containment Response Framework, at Bangkok (September 13-14 and 15 respectively). She also participated in the Expert Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting of WHO at Geneva (September 26-29, 2011).

Dr. Dipika Sur, Scientist F, National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata, participated in the VI International Conference on Vaccines for Enteric Diseases, at Cannes (September 14-16,2011), She also participated in the Discussion on Need for a Pan-Diarrhoeal Vaccine, at Rome (September 27-28, 2011).

Dr. N.V. Giridharan, Scientist F, NIN, Hyderabad, worked with Prof. Raj Gururajan of University of Southern Queensland to Develop and Finalize the Queensland Smart Future Project Application (September 19-30, 2011).

Dr. Rajesh Kumar Joshi, Scientist C, Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Belgaum, participated in the Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry Instrument Training, at London (September 20-23, 2011).

Dr. A.C. Mishra, Director, NIV, Pune, participated in the WHO Regional Workshop on Emerging and Dangerous Pathogens Laboratory Network, at Jakarta (September 20-22, 2011).

Dr. S.K. Sharma, Scientist E and Officer-in-Charge, NIMR Field Station, Rourkela; Dr. Ashwini Kumar, Scientist E and Officer-in-Charge, NIMR, Field Station, Goa, participated in the I Annual Workshop of the International Centre of Excellence for Malaria, Research, at Zambia (September 21-23, 2011).

Dr. B. Sesikaran, Director, NIN, Hyderabad, participated in the Scientists/Regulator Biotechnology Conference and Delivered a Talk on Development of Biotechnology Regulations in India with respect to Safety, at Colombo (September 29-30, 2011).

Fellowship

Dr. K. Rekha Devi, Scientist C, RMRC N.E. Region, Dibrugarh, has been awarded JSPS RONPOKU Fellowship to work for her Ph.D. Dessertation at Kochi Medical School, Japan (August 1-October 29 and December 1-30, 2011)

Shri B. Balal, Scientist C, Regional Occupational Health Centre, Kolkata, was awarded Fulbright Nehru Senior Reseaerch Fellowship 2011-2012 at Arizona for a period of 4 months (w.e.f. September 1, 2011).

Dr. N.S. Chatterjee, Scientist D, NICED, Kolkata was awarded Fullbright Nehru Senior Research Fellowship to work at California for a period of 8 months (w.e.f. September 6, 2011)

Dr. Triveni Krishnan, Scientist E, NICED, Kolkata, proceeded to complete the Full Time Masters of health Sciences in Bioethics at Centre for Bioethics, University of Toronto, Toronto for one academic year (September 2011 to June 2012)

WHO Assignment

Dr. Kalpagam, Polasa, Scientist F, NIN, Hyderabad, worked on a WHO Assignment as Laboratory Expert in Food Safety, at Thimpu for a Period of 31 days (August 29-September 29, 2011).

Lecture

Prof. Radha K. maheshwari, Professor of Pathology and Director, Centre for Combat Casuality and Life Sustainment Research, Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, USA delivered a lecture on "Alphaviruses as biothreat agents; Novel approaches for studying the pathogenesis for the development of diagnostic biomarkers, antivirals and vaccine," at the ICMR Headquarters, New Delhi on September 28, 2011.
