ICL announces new magnetic tapes for system 4.

ICL (International Computers Ltd., London) The former name of Fujitsu Services, the European-centered arm of the global Fujitsu Group and one of the leading IT services companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.  has developed a new phase encoded (storage) Phase Encoded - (PE) A recording method used for 1600 BPI magnetic tapes.

, 9-track magnetic tape system for use with its System 4 computers. The system consists of a device control unit and three types of phase encoded magnetic tape units. A 7-track magnetic tape unit is available to provided complete industry compatibility and to facilitate changeover from older ranges.

The 9-track tapes will be compatible with both current and proposed ISO (1) See ISO speed.
