ICE 2007 to attract international audience to major coatings event on 'Green' Solutions.

Plans are well underway for the major coatings event of the year, ICE 2007. To be held October 3-5 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, ICE features the largest North American exhibition of raw materials, equipment, and services for the coatings manufacturing and construction chemicals industry. Focusing on the theme of "Clean-Lean-Green: Innovative Solutions for the Global Coatings Community," ICE will include valuable Preshow Short Courses and the industry's state-of-the-art, forward-thinking technical conference, FutureCoat!

Clean-Lean-Green

The "greening" of the coatings industry continues and front line decision makers need to keep pace with ever-changing technologies and products. ICE 2007 will serve as the industry's focal point to meet the challenge of developing environmentally friendly products that answer strong performance needs. Informative educational programs will explore the innovative ways that technology is assisting in meeting those challenges.

International Coatings Expo

The premier industry event, the International Coatings Expo will spotlight the products and services of over 300 suppliers. Solutions to be gained at ICE 2007 will combine existing industrial expertise with an understanding of natural, sustainable systems to assist in the development of high quality, environmentally sound coatings processes and products. Preshow Short Courses

On Monday, October 1, and Tuesday, October 2, FSCT will sponsor ICE 2007 Preshow Short Courses. A variety of half-day, one-day, and two-day courses will be offered. These Short Courses are designed for everyone from the bench chemist and lab technician to the technical director and sales personnel. The courses will provide the training to keep you ahead in the industry. Separate registration is required to attend.

FutureCoat!

FutureCoat! will open on Wednesday afternoon, October 3, with a Keynote Address presented by John Warner, Professor and Director of the Center for Green Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. Dr. Warner is credited with beginning the first Ph.D. program in Green Chemistry and is a co-author of the defining text in the field, Green Chemistry: Theory and Practice. Introduced in 2006, FutureCoat! will feature more than 80 technical presentations highlighting the theme of environmentally friendly coatings. This key educational event explores the most innovative methodologies and applications shaping the coatings industry.

Why Toronto?

The environmental challenge to the coatings industry has worldwide implications, and Toronto serves as an ideal venue for such an international gathering. Toronto is considered to be one of the most multicultural cities in the world and has become one of North America's leading hubs for international business.

According to FSCT Executive Director, Robert F. Ziegler, "Hosting ICE 2007 in Toronto will provide a forum that is easier for international visitors to attend ICE. Over the past several years we have heard that many of our overseas colleagues are having an extremely difficult time obtaining visas to enter the U.S. In fact, a recent study conducted by the Travel Industry Association reports that there has been a 17% drop in overseas travel to the United States since the Sept. 11 attacks. As a result of the attacks, the U.S. tightened security measures and toughened its visa and entry requirements."

Hotels

The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel will serve as the Headquarters Hotel for ICE 2007. For the convenience of ICE attendees, a number of additional ICE hotels have been contracted in Toronto at special rates, including the Fairmont Royal York, Holiday Inn on King, Intercontinental, and Renaissance Toronto.
