IBM and Oracle Cooperation And Partnership Program at International Developers Opportunities Conference in Brazil.


CANELA, Brazil--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 1996--IT industry giants IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  and Oracle presented programs of cooperation and partnership with Brazilian software houses today at the second annual International Developers Opportunity (I DO) Conference at the Hotel Laje de Pedra Conference Center.

IBM brought four people to the I DO Conference because there is money to be made by working in partnership here in Brazil creating applications and applets for the IT marketplace that is growing larger and faster than at any time in history, spurred onward by the popularization pop·u·lar·ize

The afternoon session featured a presentation by Fernando Moutinho of Sao Paulo, Director of Commercial Partnerships for Oracle. "You are not just Oracle's customers, you are also our valued partners in marketing and profit," Moutinho told the interested audience. "Oracle wants to encourage your development of vertical markets and applications, and then partner with you in seeking business and making sales.

Tomorrow, the final day of the Conference, representatives of IBM, Microsoft, Intel and Novell will deliver presentations. Attendees previously heard a keynote speech from David Card, Director of Software Research for IDC of Mountain View, Calif., from Borland, from the JavaSoft division of Sun Microsystems, and a presentation on market trends and the future for Brazilian developers from Dr. Carlos Caldas DaSilva, Director of the U.S. Outpost of SOFTEX 2000 in Pembroke Pines, Fla. Dr. DaSilva detailed plans for the distribution of Brazilian software via the SOFTEX Mall on the Internet, and formation of a U.S. software publishing arm of the organization.
