IBM Announces Enhanced General Business Series Monitors with USB Hub Option for Increased Manageability.

Continuing its leadership position in visual products, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. Enhanced General Business Monitors

Ideal for mainstream business applications, the new G54 and G74 models replace the existing G52 and G72 and feature improved contrast for sharper, brighter images with less glareand reflections, through premium screen treatments and an enhanced, brighter tube.

Both monitors are equipped with a maximum horizontal frequency of 69KHz, offering 1024 x 768 addressability at an 85 Hz non-interlaced refresh rate. Additional enhancements include on-screen displays, providing users with improved usability in five language settings. The controls also offer a locking feature to prevent tampering, and Plug and Play Direct Display Communications (DDC See VESA DDC. ) capabilities for automatic configuration and asset tracking, which increases ease of use and manageability. As with all IBM monitors, the G54 and G74 meet or exceed current industry standards for energy efficiency and emission standards(1). Additionally, the G54 and G74 will be offered as touchscreen monitors by MicroTouch Systems, an IBM Business Partner.

4-Device Port Universal Serial Bus Hub

A new 4-Device Port USB Hub option also was announced today, which provides users with an enhanced manageability feature that allows customers to attach up to four USB-enabled devices, such as keyboards, mice, joysticks, scanners, cameras and audio equipment to their PC systems simultaneously. Developed to fit neatly into the recess at the rear of the monitor stand, it is also available as an option to sit alongside other IBM monitors for easily connecting USB peripherals.

Pricing and Availability

The G54, G74 and USB Hub option are available now in the U.S. These products were made available in late June in Canada and selected European countries. The following are estimated reseller prices(2):
