SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- International Business Machines Corp. today announced a $790,000 donation to the United Way of Santa Clara County to kick off the company's annual employee charitable contribution campaign.
Glenn Larnerd, ADSTAR vice president and general manager of IBM's San Jose site, announced the corporate gift on behalf of all IBM employees in Santa Clara County. The gift will include $490,000 for general use, $65,000 for a School Readiness and Youth Activities program and $235,000 in IBM PS/2 equipment.
Last year IBM employees in Santa Clara County pledged more than $1.5 million on top of the company's corporate gift of $718,200.
In addition to IBM's corporate and employee contributions to the local United Way, IBM has played a key role in the agency's fund-raising efforts this year. The company has provided two full-time loaned executives to assist the campaign department, and seven IBM executive volunteers are helping develop United Way fund-raising campaigns at several companies in the county.
