IBM ANNOUNCES MAJOR ADVANCE IN COMPUTER MEMORY.

A group of IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  scientists have announced through an article published in the technical Journal "Science" that they have accomplished a technological breakthrough that will result in disk drives capable of holding more than 1 trillion bytes, a 100 fold increase in the capacity of today's hard drives.

The breakthrough is accomplished through chemical reactions This is the 18th episode of television drama Men in Trees. It originally aired on June 25, 2007 on the TV2 network in New Zealand as a continuation of season 1. Recap

which cause tiny magnetic particles, each no larger than a few thousand atoms, to assemble themselves at precise intervals.

The breakthrough was accomplished through a collaboration among IBM researchers working in New York New York, state, United States

state and California, and represents a dramatic improvement in the emerging scientific field of nanotechnology, i.e., building microscopic circuitry.

In order to accomplish the breakthrough the researchers had to overcome manufacturing difficulties in working at such size levels. While the technological breakthrough is revolutionary, it will not necessarily result in an immediate next generation of disk drives, but represents a significant step forward.

The research which resulted in the breakthrough was conducted by Shouheng Sun and Christopher Murray at IBM's Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, and Dieter Weller, Liesl Folks and Andreas Moser at the Almaden Research Center The IBM Almaden Research Center, located near San Jose, California, is one of IBM's largest research centers, specializing in both basic research in material science and applied research in computer storage, where many refinements and improvements were made in hard disc drive  in San Jose San Jose, city, United States
