IBEX completes flagship jewelry store at retail mecca.

IBEX Construction has completed the U.S. flagship store for Honora, a world-wide leader in the jewelry industry.

Located at 30 East 57th Street, the jeweler signed a lease for the last available storefront at 575 Madison Avenue, in the heart of Manhattan's high-end shopping district. The new, 1,200 s/f store was constructed in accordance with the rigid regulations of this upscale Midtown shopping area.

IBEX Construction provided the construction management services for the project. The firm was able to perform all facets of construction during peak shopping hours and minimize overtime costs.

"Honora's storefront is a fine addition to this upscale shopping district, which some consider the Rodeo Drive of Manhattan," said Andy Frankl, president of IBEX Construction.

"Our team was able to complete the store in time for the holiday shopping season while maintaining the ambiance of the area, and allowing people to shop without interruptions."

Outside, the contemporary storefront is finished invitingly in polished stainless steel and glass. Inside, the new store features radiused display vitrines and Zebrano/Essenza stone flooring. Honora tapped the New Jersey-based Kurt Versen Lighting Company to create a lighting scheme that would spotlight the jewels and pearls in warm, welcoming light and highlight the store's clean, contemporary design.

A small, designated private area presented a challenge for the design and construction teams. With only 120 s/f to work with, IBEX Construction was able to maximize the space and use every available inch to install an ADA compliant restroom, wrapping station, pantry and a manager's office.

The firm also oversaw the installation of all new HVAC, plumbing and electrical equipment, completely contained within the space.

Honora's advanced security system includes an interior Cornell Visionaire design stainless motorized rolling grill, an Amico high strength security mesh embedded in the store's walls and a DGA security system.

Innovative Design Group was the architect for the project, while Manny Encamacion Design was the store designer. The store officially opened on November 2.
