For the more than 3,900 members of IBEW Local 164, membership certainly has its privileges, among them the unique ability to be a part of an organization that is truly committed to helping make life better for its members as well as the communities in which they reside.

Dedicated to providing advanced training to new and seasoned electricians and teledata technicians, as well as the highest level of construction site services throughout New Jersey's leading commercial and residential projects, the Local has forged a true working partnership with the National Electrical Contractors Association and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. This unique alliance is designed to enhance worksite safety through contractor collaboration with OSHA advisors and safety consultants.

With electricians active throughout Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties and telecommunications workers contracted throughout the state, Local 164 has provided installation, maintenance and system upgrades on some of New Jersey's most prominent construction projects.

These include the Secaucus Transfer Station, Goldman Sachs Building in Jersey City, and Newark Bears Arena in Newark. Current projects include Xanadu at the Meadowlands and Newark Arena, the future home of the NJ Devils. In addition to learning the electrical or telecommunications trade, Local 164's members are expected to help make life better for those around them. Local 164 members embrace the adage "get it right the first time" when it comes to installing, upgrading 'and maintaining electrical and telecommunications equipment throughout New Jersey's commercial, industrial and residential construction sites to ensure the safety and well-being of workers and end-users alike.
