IBERIA ADDS NEW MEMBERS TO BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UNIT
MIAMI, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Iberia Airlines of Spain has named

Ralph Pereda as manager of market development and Carmen Lopez-Calleja as director of tour development and leisure travel. Both Pereda and Lopez-Calleja will be based in Miami where they will become integral members of Iberia's Business Development Unit.
As manager of market development, Pereda will be responsible for developing new business opportunities in established markets. He will also explore and develop new markets for the entire Iberia Group. Lopez-Calleja will manage, coordinate and develop tour and vacation programs for the Spanish carrier.
Pereda joins Iberia with extensive experience in the travel industry. Most recently he served as area sales manager of Latin America for Official Airline Guides (OAG), where he marketed OAG's full line of products and services to a variety of national and international airlines in Central and South America.
Prior to his employment with OAG, Pereda was manager of national sales for Eastern Airlines, where he was responsible for the implementation of sales programs with various national travel agency networks, and regional sales manager of the upper midwest region for Continental Airlines, where he coordinated sales programs with more than 900 travel agencies and corporate accounts in five states.
Lopez-Calleja also comes to Iberia with an extensive, broad-based background in transportation and aviation. She was regional director of marketing and sales for Radisson Resorts in Miami before joining the Iberia Group. Lopez-Calleja also held a variety of managerial positions with Eastern Airlines, where she began her professional career as a reservations agent. During her career at Eastern, Lopez-Calleja developed numerous marketing and sales programs for the leisure travel division of the now defunct airline.
Iberia's Business Development Unit, headed by Luis Palacio, develops new ventures for the carrier and maintains a cooperative relationship among airlines in the Iberia Group. Included in this group are Aerolineas Argentinas, the Chilean airline Ladeco and the Venezuelan airline Viasa. Pereda and Lopez-Calleja will work closely with Palacio in order to create innovative marketing and business plans for Iberia.
"Ralph Pereda and Carmen Lopez-Calleja have the experience, the knowledge and the leadership skills to propel the Iberia Group to new levels of excellence and achievement," said Nicolas Canto de Andres, vice president and general manager of Iberia Airlines, U.S.A. & Canada. "We are extremely satisfied with our selection and look forward to a long, successful relationship with both individuals."
Iberia Airlines recently moved its U.S. headquarters from Los Angeles to Miami and created a hub operation to better service its European and Latin American route systems. The national airline of Spain is currently adding new destinations and routes to its Latin American schedule in order to enhance its pre-eminent position in this region.
