IBC To Honor Toy Story 2.The International Broadcasting Convention's Awards Show being held in Amsterdam September 10 will play host to representatives from Buena Vista International, on hand to receive the "IBC Special Award" for their digital cinema screenings of Toy Story 2. A Disney/Pixar production, Toy Story 2 made history by becoming the first major motion picture to get a simultaneous commercial release in both digital and film formats. In November 1999, it was released digitally in six U.S. cinemas, and in February 2000, there were commercial digital screenings in five European cinemas -- three in the U.K., one in Paris and one in Brussels. The digital screenings utilized Texas Instruments' DLP Cinema Technology. Toy Story 2 will be screened at IBC2000 (digitally, of course) in a 1,700-seat theater, followed by a Q&A with representatives from Disney and Texas Instruments. |
