IAPA TRAVEL SAFETY ALERT NEWSLETTER LISTS THE WORLD'S SAFEST AIRLINES

WASHINGTON, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Today's inaugural issue of the IAPA Travel Safety Alert Newsletter listed the 16 safest airlines in the world. The IAPA Travel Safety Alert Newsletter is distributed to members of the International Airline Passengers Association (IAPA), according to David Stempler, Washington counsel for IAPA.
Stempler stated: "The IAPA Travel Safety Alert airline safety rating system is based on the risk of a particular airline having a fatal accident." Stempler went on to say that "using 10 years' worth of data, the analysis included accidents per million flights, fatalities per million passengers, the airline's quality of pilot training and maintenance, air traffic control infrastructure, aircraft age, value of the fleet and commitment of the airline's home country to safety."
Stempler went on to say that "to provide meaningful comparisons, the list of the world's safest airlines were grouped by size based on the total number of flights." According to the IAPA Travel Safety Alert, the "Safest of the World's Biggest Airlines are (in alphabetical order): American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Southwest Airlines."
The IAPA Travel Safety Alert states that the "Safest of the World's Mid-Size Airlines are (in alphabetical order): ANA (All Nippon Airways), America West Airlines, Ansett Australia Airlines, Canadian Airlines International and Saudi Arabian Airlines.
"The Safest of the World's Medium to Small Airlines are (in alphabetical order): Alaska Airlines, Finnair, KLM, Malaysian Airline System and Swissair."
