iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., the mobile and wireless subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. , and Swedbank, one of Sweden's largest banks, has launched a new pilot program of the companies' joint wireless m-Banking solution. The program, called Banken via Mobil t Internet (The Bank via Mobile Internet), targets Swedbank's installed base of Internet banking customers, over one million in Sweden alone, by extending features such as money transfers, bill payments and mutual fund trading to wireless devices.

The companies have an ongoing relationship to leverage iAnywhere Solutions' m-Business platform to deliver an "always available" mobile banking solution that enables Swedbank's customers to access their financial portfolio and perform transactions regardless of wireless coverage. When a wireless network connection is not available, the application stores the transactions for later synchronization over the wireless network.

Swedbank's new m-Banking service supports today's key mobile platforms including PocketPC, Symbian and Palm. In addition, the solution enables WAP- based solutions for mobile phones and can communicate over GSM, GPRS or other IP-based networks such as wireless LAN. Swedbank expects to offer the new service to all of its Internet banking customers in the first quarter of next year.
