CHAIRMAN

Warren E. Bickford is director of communication and public education for the Saskatchewan Department of Justice and the Saskatchewan Department of Corrections and Public Safety in Regina. Previously, he was executive director of the North Battleford Water Inquiry, and communication adviser and acting executive director of communication and public information for the Saskatchewan Department of Health.

Bickford has held a number of volunteer leadership positions including director of finance, IABC IABC International Association of Business Communicators

VICE CHAIR

Katherine (Kit) Jenkins is associate professor, school of communication, at Webster University, St. Louis, Mo. Previously, she served as visiting professor, Leiden, The Netherlands, and study group leader to the fourth United Nations Conference on Women, Beijing, China/NGO Forum on Women, Huairo, China.

She was an organizer of the Spirit of Beijing--Spirit of St. Louis conference and chaired the National Women's Studies Association. Previous employers include AT&T, St. Louis; KOPN Radio, Columbia, Mo.; and Maritz Motivation, St. Louis.

Jenkins earned IABC accreditation in 1999. She has served IABC in many capacities: as district director (D4); as judge and coordinator for the Gold Quill awards; on the executive committee of the IABC international board; and as Research Foundation trustee in 1999-2000. She has won many awards and honors from IABC as well as community and educational honors.

She holds a bachelor's degree in English literature, University of Missouri (Columbia), and a master's in marketing, Webster University.

Tamara Gillis, Ed.D., ABC ABC

Major U.S. television network. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928.
, is associate professor of communication and chairman of the department of communication at Elizabethtown College, Pa., and owner of Wordsmiths, a communication consultancy. She also has held a number of positions in community relations and public relations in the nonprofit, government, education and health care sectors.

Gillis has participated in international education and communication projects in Swaziland, Namibia, Ecuador and Russia. In 2001, she taught for Semester at Sea Semester at Sea (SAS) is a study abroad program managed by the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) in Charlottesville, Virginia. The University of Virginia is the academic sponsor for the program.  on a ship that circumnavigated the globe. Her current areas of research interest include change management, cultural implications of new media and media literacy.

An IABC member since 1986, Gillis has held a number of offices in IABC/Harrisburg in U.S. District 3, including serving as district director in 1998-1999. In addition to chairing the IABC Research Foundation, she has served on the IABC executive board and executive committee.

Gillis has a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in communication studies from Shippensburg University (Pa.). She earned a doctorate in administration and policy studies from the University of Pittsburgh.

Arnold T. Kishi is an executive assistant to the governor of Hawaii The Governor of Hawaiʻi, also called Ke Kiaʻaina o Hawaiʻi , responsible for setting strategic technology directions for 20 executive branch departments that spend US$100 million annually for technology services in their US$3.2 billion budgets.

Before joining the governor's office, Kishi was a senior executive at the East-West Center, a multinational, Hawaii-based public research corporation.

Kishi is also an adjunct faculty member in the University of Hawaii (body, education) University of Hawaii - A University spread over 10 campuses on 4 islands throughout the state.

Carol A. Poore, ABC, is director of communication for New West Energy, an affiliate of Salt River Project, the nation's third-largest public power electric and water utility, based in Phoenix, Ariz.

Her experience includes more than a decade in corporate communication and media relations, with emphasis on strategic communication planning, publications management and executive speech writing. An international author and speaker, Poore has written a book, "Building Your Career Portfolio," available in bookstores throughout the U.S. and Canada, which was also published in German and Korean.

Poore earned a master's degree through the executive MBA program at Arizona State University Arizona State University, at Tempe; coeducational; opened 1886 as a normal school, became 1925 Tempe State Teachers College, renamed 1945 Arizona State College at Tempe. Marie Raperto, president/owner of The Cantor Concern Inc. and Cantor Concern Staffing Options, is the recipient of the 2002 Chairman's Award by ABC President John Clemons, ABC, APR.

Before establishing The Cantor Concern Inc., Raperto was a principal and vice president with Jim Cotton Communications Inc., an advertising/public relations/design firm. Her clients included numerous Fortune 500 industrial and services companies, as well as leading hotels and consumer products companies.

Raperto is a past president and member of the board of governors of the New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 ABC chapter. She serves on the Women Executives in PR Foundation Board and chairs the development committee. She formerly served on the Board of Governors for New York University's Metropolitan Center for Urban Education and the board of the Publicity Club of New York.

The Chairman's Award recognizes ABC members who have made selfless contributions and worked behind the scenes at the international level to enhance the association's image, facilitate member development and benefit the communication profession.

DON RANLY, PH.D., NAMED 2002 FELLOW

Don Ranly, Ph.D., is professor of journalism and head of the magazine program at the school of journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he has taught for the past 28 years. He has a master's degree in journalism and a master's degree in speech from Marquette University, a certificate in film, radio and television from New York University New York University, mainly in New York City; coeducational; chartered 1831, opened 1832 as the Univ. of the City of New York, renamed 1896. It comprises 13 schools and colleges, maintaining 4 main centers (including the Medical Center) in the city, as well as the  and a doctorate in journalism from the University of Missouri.

Ranly has worked as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor, weekly columnist, radio host and television producer, director and host. He has conducted more than 950 writing and editing seminars for press associations, corporations, associations and individual newspapers and magazines.

He is co-author of "News Reporting and Writing," "Beyond the Inverted Pyramid" and "Telling the Story: Writing for Print, Television and Online" and author of "Publication Editing." He also has compiled a readings book, "The Principles of American Journalism." In addition, he produced "Ranly On Writing" audiocassettes and "Ranly On Writing," "Ranly On Grammar" and "Refrigerator Journalism" videocassettes.

Ranly has spoken at 18 ABC international conferences and to 32 chapter meetings. The fellow designation is the highest honor ABC bestows on a member. The award recognizes IABC members who have continually made outstanding contributions to the communication profession through achievement in their own organizations and through service as ABC members.

RICHARD M. SCHULZE Richard M. "Dick" Schulze is the Founder and Chairman of Best Buy.

He was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota where he graduated from Central High School, afterwards attending Marquette University (he did not graduate[1]). He subsequently spent time in the U.S.

Richard M. Schulze, founder, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of the international electronic company Best Buy Co. Inc., is the recipient of the 2002 Excellence in Communication Leadership (EXCEL) award.

He has devoted more than half his life to the consumer electronics industry. His wide-ranging career encompasses technical experience, retail and distributor sales and management of North America's leading specialty retail chain. Best Buy, with annual revenues approaching US$20 billion, was recently ranked as the best-performing stock over past five years, according to The Wall Street Journal. In 1966, Schulze founded Sound of Music, a chain of six stereo-component retail stores that was the forerunner of the present Best Buy Co. With 1,900 stores throughout North America, the chain operates under the names Best Buy, Sam Goody, On Cue, Suncoast Motion Picture Co., Media Play, Future Shop and Magnolia Hi-Fi.

LIFETIME FOUNDATION FRIEND AWARD GOES TO DAVID David, in the Bible
