I.C.U. ... MVS(TM) security analysis from JANUS.

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1995--If you're not sure about your Information System's security, you are not alone. The media daily reports penetration, alteration and theft of sensitive information from some of the "most secure" data centers. One working solution is I.C.U. ... MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage) Introduced in 1974, the primary operating system used with IBM mainframes (the others are VM and DOS/VSE). MVS is a batch processing-oriented operating system that manages large amounts of memory and disk space. (TM) (Integrity Concerns Uncovered), a pro-active, MVS vulnerability identification program from JANUS Software that has passed "real life," long term tests at major organizations.

Working in a RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) IBM mainframe security software introduced in 1976 that verifies user ID and password and controls access to authorized files and resources.

(IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) ), ACF (Advanced Communications Function) An earlier official product line name for IBM SNA programs, such as VTAM (ACF/VTAM) and NCP (ACF/NCP).

2 or Top Secret (Computer Associates) environment, I.C.U. ... MVS (Enhance), Release 2.0, is the only available utility that examines and analyzes the vulnerability of mainframe computing operations. It scans various libraries and databases to detect security exposures.

I.C.U. ... MVS, is a Time Share Option (TSO (Time Sharing Option) Software that provides interactive communications for IBM's MVS operating system. It allows a user or programmer to launch an application from a terminal and interactively work with it. The TSO counterpart in VM is called CMS. ) application that, with a few keystrokes, provides the ability of reviewing specific UserID access to four crucial areas; MVS System Information, Key System Libraries, DASD (Direct Access Storage Device) Pronounced "daz-dee." A peripheral device that is directly addressable, such as a disk or drum. The term is used in the mainframe world.

Patricia A.P. Fisher, President of JANUS, and an international authority on computer security and contingency planning, reports that, "Today's MVS data centers contain thousands of datasets needed in daily operations. Reviewing the security of each of these is a never ending task. Therefore, data center security has usually been restricted to reviewing only mission critical datasets."

Fisher added, "this means, in most instances, well over one half of the datasets are never reviewed for security exposure. Further complicating this issue is that most analytical tools do not review the access control program or applications data. Developed after analysis of hundreds of mainframe computer security operations, I.C.U. ... MVS reviews all datasets and programs available to users, and reports in a variety of formats. No more non-reviewed datasets."

I.C.U. ... MVS (Enhance), Release 2.0, is offered on a North American North American
