I want a cell phone.

My dad won't get me a cell phone even. though I'm responsible. All my friends have them. but he still says no Even my tittle cousin has one I don't know how to convince him Today basketball practice ended 30 minutes earlier than usual and I had to borrow someone else's so he could pick me up.

Dear I Want a Cell Phone, Time might be on your side. Do you have a big graduation or stellar report card or birthday coming? Ask for that as a present. Let your dad know a cell is a great way to keep tabs with him. When making your plea, do not nag, cry, fuss, whine or say, "Everyone else has one." That technique nearly always backfires because it makes you sound less mature. Be considerate, too. Some parents don't want expensive cell phone contracts (and kids sometimes take advantage). Maybe you can agree on a limited-use or pre-paid plan.
