I can't live on EUR100k, claims TD; ELECTION SNIPPETS.

FURY erupted yesterday after Fianna Fail TD Johnny Brady claimed he couldn't live on EUR100,000.

Brady, who as chairman of the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee got EUR20,000 on top of his EUR100,000 salary along with EUR70,000 in expenses, claimed he was "no better off" than when he was a councillor in 1974.

Fine Gael's Alan Shatter said: "With 440,000 people on the Live Register and thousands of our most talented people leaving the country every week, it is perverse an elected member of the party that got us into this situation should whinge about his EUR100,000 salary."

He added that "perhaps a stint in the real world will remind him of the struggles that people are facing".
