Business Editors/Technology Writers

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2000

Two Industry Leaders' First Agreement Provides Artisan's Library

Products For Hyundai Electronics' 0.18-Micron Process Technology

Artisan Components, Inc., (Nasdaq: ARTI), a world leader in physical libraries and Hyundai Electronics Industries, Co., Ltd., an industry leader in high-quality semiconductors, today announced that they have signed a license agreement for Artisan to provide its physical libraries optimized for Hyundai's 0.18-micron process technology. Under the terms of the agreement, Artisan will deliver its SAGE-X(tm) Standard Cell Library, single- and dual-port SRAM See static RAM.

This agreement signals Hyundai's outsourcing strategy with leading IP providers such as Artisan to accelerate customer IC development and gain greater manufacturing flexibility. Selecting Artisan's products allows Hyundai to use a common library platform for its internal groups as well as COT and ASIC customers.

"Hyundai chose Artisan based on their libraries' proven track record for high-production yields, good performance and ease-of-use," said Channy Lee, executive director and general manager at Hyundai Electronics. " We are looking forward to building our relationship with Artisan and increasing the number of designs using this path to silicon."

, president and chief executive officer of Artisan Components, "Artisan's R&D efforts have been focused on providing the best possible manufacturing results coupled with ease-of-use and complete design tool integration. This makes our products a natural fit for companies like Hyundai that are competing in high-volume markets with short product windows. Our agreement with Hyundai is significant because it demonstrates that high-volume silicon customers are beginning to look for solutions that provide more control of the silicon result as well as more manufacturing flexibility. We are honored that Hyundai selected Artisan for their physical library solution."
