 degree from UPC-Barcelona, Spain, and a Masters of Business Administration degree from ESADE ESADE Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (Spanish business school)  in Barcelona. Much of his considerable industry experience has been with Hyprotech, which he joined in 1994 as development manager. He subsequently ran the company's European Operations, first as operations manager, then as vice president, and until recently, as president of Hyprotech's European, Middle East and African Operations.

Before joining Hyprotech, he held project management responsibilities with ZGDV ZGDV Zentrum für Graphische Datenverarbeitung  in Germany. Clave subsequently managed a super-computer center in Europe named CESCA CESCA Centre de Supercomputació de Catalunya (Spanish) , a joint project of academia and private companies using state-of-the-art super-computing equipment.
