Hyperion Celebrates Customer Success with Business Intelligence Platform.

NEW ORLEANS & SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- American Suzuki, Booz Allen Hamilton, Continental Airlines and Vodafone Australia Achieve Enterprise Business Performance Management through Dashboards, Management Reporting and Advanced Analytics

Hyperion (Nasdaq:HYSL) will mark more than a year of breakthroughs in Business Intelligence at Solutions 2005, the company's global conference and the world's premier event for Business Performance Management, taking place in New Orleans April 10-13. In the past year, Hyperion has introduced interactive dashboards that are both easy-to-use and deploy, and allow users to quickly "drill through" to source data and unveil insights that can improve their business performance. Hyperion has also created a new approach to management reporting that seamlessly blends financial and operational reporting with advanced analytics. Customers are taking advantage of these innovations for on-demand reporting, dynamic planning and forecasting, more strategic modeling and to get greater confidence in financial reporting.

Hyperion's interactive dashboards are fully customizable, cost-efficient and easy to build, requiring no additional IT resources. One customer, American Suzuki Motor Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Japan's Suzuki Motor, uses dashboards fueled with advanced analytics to deliver a full suite of dealer performance reports to decision-makers scattered across the United States. Suzuki employees use the reports to work with their dealers to improve performance, ultimately increasing customer satisfaction.

"Before we had the Hyperion solution, we often made decisions base on narrowly defined fixed reports," said Claire Ashby, data warehouse specialist for American Suzuki. "Now we have the flexibility to rate dealer performance on a number of different objective criteria. We even grant dealers warranty claim self-authorization status based on scores generated by a dealer performance report. The results not only reduced our claim approval time and efforts but also improved dealer cooperation. With the capability to offer a 'single version of truth,' we have already expanded our user base to other departments."

Booz Allen Hamilton, a global strategy and technology consulting firm that provides services to major international corporations and government clients around the world, is also taking advantage of advanced analytics from the recently released Hyperion Essbase 7X, the advanced analytics component of the Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform -- and the only powerful and highly scalable analytic engine available for both finance and line of business users.

"From our first import of revenue data into Hyperion Essbase 7X, we immediately saw a 35x reduction in calculation time and a 13x decrease in disk footprint. Additionally, retrieval times in many of our revenue modules were reduced from 30 seconds down to less than a second," said Kevin L. Continental Airlines, the world's sixth-largest airline, is using Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform to perform reporting and analysis on data contained in its Teradata enterprise data warehouse. Continental Airlines selected Hyperion because it is easy to learn for novice users and robust enough to meet complex reporting demands for sophisticated applications. Hyperion is the only Business Intelligence tool used within the data warehouse.

Non-technical decision-makers receive Hyperion reports via email or pull pre-built reports from Continental's Web report server while more experienced users can build their own reports from data models created by the data warehousing team. Continental also uses Hyperion to generate reports that are accurate facsimiles of a paper ticket, which streamlines their method of billing other airlines and researching customer refunds.

According to Kim Repetowski, senior director of revenue accounting, Continental's enterprise data warehouse and Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform provide millions of dollars in revenue and cost savings. Project costs to date are around $25 million, delivering an impressive ROI to the airline.
