Hyperdynamics Plans Expansive Exploration; Oil Exploration and Development Heats up Offshore West Africa.HOUSTON -- Hyperdynamics Corp. (AMEX:HDY HDY - Handy (German slang for mobile phone) HDY - Hat Yai, Thailand (Airport Code) HDY - Heavy Duty) today announced that, as a result of its previously signed protocol letter, it's now planning to significantly expand exploration efforts. The company is now having technical discussions with many oil industry contractors as well as exploration and production companies. There is a growing interest for participation in its expanded exploration plans for its 16-million-acre concession offshore the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. In addition to drilling exploration wells, new seismic acquisition and other exploration programs are on the horizon. With record escalation in world oil prices, interest in the company's concession is increasing as exploration and development activities up and down the coast of West Africa are progressing at a very strong pace. In recent news, Hardman Resources Limited announced that oil production from the Chinguetti field offshore Mauritania has commenced. Woodside Petroleum (ASW:WPL WPL - Wave Propagation Laboratory WPL - Winnipeg Public Library (Canada) WPL - Workstation Prototype Laboratory and OTC:WOPEY), the largest publicly traded oil and gas company in Australia, is the operator for this new production and they are expecting production to reach 75,000 barrels/day. Last month a new discovery was made by Chevron (NYSE:CXV) and ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM). This new find is off the Coast of Gabon Gabon (gäbôN`), officially Gabonese Republic, republic (2005 est. pop. 1,389,000), 103,346 sq mi (267,667 sq km), W central Africa. It borders on the Atlantic Ocean in the west, on Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon in the north, and on Congo (Brazzaville) in the east and south. and it was reported that it could hold as much as one billion barrels of oil and gas. ExxonMobil has disclosed recently that it will be investing more than $2 billion on an annual basis, in the exploration, development and production of oil and gas reserves in Nigeria with a target to reach one million barrels a day of production by 2010. Additionally, offshore the West African countries of Nigeria, Equitorial Guinea, Ghana, Gabon, Angola, and Cote D' Ivoire, we are continuing to see major exploration and development from Anadarko Petroleum (NYSE:APC), Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN), Vanco (NASD:VCOOF), and Amerada Hess (NYSE:AHC) among others. Of special interest to Hyperdynamics, PremierOil (LONDON:PMO) plans to drill two high impact wells in Guinea Bissau Bissau (bĭsou`), town (1991 est. pop. 197,610), capital of Guinea-Bissau, a port in the Geba estuary, off the Atlantic Ocean. It is the country's largest city, major port, and administrative and military center. Bissau has been a free port since 1869 and handles transit trade. in November 2006. Premier has also completed their 2D-seismic acquisition work in their block 7C and 7B there. PremierOil's Web site states these blocks have a "potential for large prospects." Notably, these PremierOil blocks border Hyperdynamics' concession to the north offshore the Republic of Guinea and are just a short distance away from some of the very large prospects that Hyperdynamics has targeted. Kent Watts, Hyperdynamics' CEO, stated, "As exploration activities increase, the shortage of high-quality exploration areas becomes more critical. We have the largest offshore concession in West Africa. In an effort to realize a commercial discovery in our concession the fastest, in addition to our own drilling plans, we believe that working with multiple partners and projects simultaneously makes the most sense. We are now evaluating contractors and signing potential partners to confidentiality agreements in preparation to commence expansive exploration activities. Many companies have already signed confidentiality agreements and are now meeting with us."
