Hydro opens new aluminum extrusion plant in Poland.

) today announced the official opening of a new aluminum extrusion plant in Poland, Hydro Aluminium Chrzanow. The plant is located in Chrzanow, 30 km west of Krakow.

The main customer for aluminium extrusions from Chrzanow will be the Polish building and construction industry, but the Chrzanow plant will serve all segments of the extrusion market based on a philosophy of customer specified products. To utilize the capacity, parts of the production will be exported to other countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

Managing Director of Hydro Aluminium Chrzanow, Clements Metzler, points out that the plant will set a benchmark for quality extrusions and customer service in Poland. "We shall become the preferred supplier for the building systems industry but also for small and middle-sized companies. Our role will be to show what is available and assist our customers to develop and produce good new products."

Hydro is the world's largest producer of soft alloy aluminium extrusions with 25 extrusion plants in Europe and the USA. Apart from aluminium extrusions, Hydro supplies building systems, components for the automotive industry The automotive industry is the industry involved in the design, development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of motor vehicles. In 2006, more than 69 million motor vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles were produced worldwide.  and other aluminium products. The company has already built up a position in the Polish extrusion market, mainly through import from its plant in Denmark. It is also present in Poland through a joint venture company, Wicona Sp.Z.o.o., a supplier of building systems.
