Husband's life the basis for World War II novel.

Byline: Oregon Author by The Register-Guard

NAME: Aline Renauld Prince, Springfield.

SHE WROTE: ` `The Iron Maiden' was to be our nonfiction account of my husband's missions with the 8th Air Forces during World War II. However, halfway through the investigation and accumulation of data and facts, my husband developed Alzheimer's.

`In the beginning, he knew what was happening to him, and he asked me to finish his work and get it published. After he died, I realized there was no way I could contribute enough for a respected work of nonfiction. But I could write fiction.'

WHAT'S IT ABOUT? "The Iron Maiden iron maiden

`Meanwhile, on the home front, mysterious and suspicious behavior threatens Bernie's flying status. In London on leave, an Irish lass meets Bernie and captures his heart. Bernie's co-pilot, a dropout (1) On magnetic media, a bit that has lost its strength due to a surface defect or recording malfunction. `As the story unfolds, Bernie comes to realize that war cannot lead to peace, and that love and forgiveness are the only hope for mankind.'

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO WRITE "THE IRON MAIDEN"? `Altogether, `The Iron Maiden' took 16 years to write.'

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND? `My background includes having been the mother of four fine sons, a fashion model, Bullock's fashion director, a publicity director, an instructor of patterns and dress design, and a manufacturer of women's wear women's wear

.

`I also teach pattern and dress design at Lane Community College.'

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WRITING? `My background as a writer began as a child with poetry and short stories. I was terribly embarrassed by them, only because I was a very poor speller Noun 1. poor speller - someone who spells words

.

`I took to writing in secret. Now, with computer spelling corrections, writing is my love.

`I entered a short story in Writer's Digest Writer's Digest, established in 1920, is a United States magazine devoted to both beginning and established writers, offering interviews, market listings, calls for manuscripts, and how-to articles.  competition several years ago. There were over 30,000 who entered. Only 100 contestants won an award. I was No. 98.

`I have had original cartoons about writing as well as that short story published elsewhere.'

WHAT'S NEXT? `I am currently working on a mystery that takes place during the early 1930s Prohibition. After that, I want to do a political mystery involving modern day drug usage, where the money goes and who benefits.'

WHAT IS YOUR WRITING PROCESS? `Because my first two novels are placed in the past - about 60 to 70 years ago - I need to work with a plot plan, one that maps the facts of the historical data on a storyboard A sequence of images and annotations for a cartoon, animation or video. Storyboards are previews of the final version and typically contain mockups rather than final art and images. Before computers, storyboards were drawn with pen and ink on lightweight cardboard. . Then, I weave the plot around that.

`My current storyboard is too big to fit on the dining room table.'

DO YOU HAVE A WRITING ROUTINE? `I begin in the morning after my affairs are in order. I accumulate about 30 hours of writing a week. Contrary to some advice, I critique and correct as I finish for the day.

`When I'm on a roll, I allow only my cat to interrupt me. His name is Nirvana nirvana (nērvä`nə), in Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism, a state of supreme liberation and bliss, contrasted to samsara or bondage in the repeating cycle of death and rebirth. .'
