Hurricane Katrina Update: LOOP Unloading First Tanker.


GALLIANO, La. -- The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port For other uses of "LOOP", see Loop.
The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) is a deepwater port in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana near the town of Port Fourchon.

The operation was initiated following the completion of a series of successful pressure tests on the LOOP and LOCAP LOCAP Low Capacity
LOCAP Low Combat Air Patrol
 crude oil pipelines. The start up was delayed after an emergency generator went down earlier today. However, once generator power was restored, tanker offloading began around began at 5 P. M. and LOCAP deliveries began at 6 P.M. When commercial power is restored, LOOP and LOCAP will be capable of achieving maximum capacity.

LOOP stopped offloading tankers Saturday, August 27, 2005, in anticipation of Hurricane Katrina.
