Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. of Hewlett-Packard Co. and former president and CEO of NCR (NCR Corporation, Dayton, OH, www.ncr.com) A technology company specializing in financial terminal transactions, retail systems and data warehousing. Until the late 1990s, NCR was heavily invested in the hardware side of the industry, known worldwide as a major manufacturer of computers Corp., as the recipient of its 2005 Excellence in Communication Leadership (EXCEL) Award. The EXCEL Award--the highest award given by IABC to a non-member--recognizes individuals who exhibit strong leadership in fostering communication and who contribute to the development and support of organizational communication Organizational communication, broadly speaking, is: people working together to achieve individual or collective goals. Hurd spent 25 years at NCR, culminating in his two-year tenure as CEO and president. He was named president and CEO of HP on 29 March.
