Humane Society, SPCA to recognize Boone and Madeleine Pickens.

San Diego Humane Society and SPCA's 21st annual Fur Ball will be held Aug. 25 at the Humane Society's San Diego Campus for Animal Care. Madeleine and Boone Pickens will be honored for their work during the hurricanes Katrina and Rita disaster, for their support of legislation on behalf of horses, and for their commitment to end cruelty to animals.

The Pickens, who are now Del Mar residents, financed the transport of hundreds of animals from the Gulf coast during the hurricane disasters, and they also continue in their commitment to animal welfare.

All proceeds will benefit the animals and vital community programs and services of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA.
