Human Kinetics to launch two journals in '08.Human Kinetics (Champaign, IL), a publisher of over 20 of journals, as well as books and videos for professionals involved in sports, sports medicine, sports psychology, sport management and marketing, and aging, has launched "Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology" and will begin the publication of the "International Journal of Sport Communication" in 2008. Both have quarterly frequency. Launched earlier this year, "Journal of Clinical Sports Psychology" is targeted to professionals involved in the practices of clinical, counseling and sport psychology and is intended to promote investigation and disseminate information related to the psychological care and overall well-being of athletes, coaches, and sports organizations. Included are articles relating to psychological health of athletes and coaches, psychological aspects of athletic performance, and issues that connect physical and psychological functioning. The June issue includes editorial coverage of such topics as: individual differences ("healthy" v. "unhealthy" exercise) in exercise motivations; insomnia and athletes; the relationship between affect and performance; the unique characteristics of the pre-competition practices of Canadian aboriginal athletes; and, performance dysfunction. The "International Journal of Sport Communication" will be launched in the first quarter of 2008 and will be published to promote the understanding and advancement of the relationship between sport and communication. Content will cover sport public relations, all-sports cable channels, sport journalism, interpersonal communication in sport, sports broadcasting, organizational communication in sport, sport Web logs, and sports radio. An annual print subscription for either title costs $60 for individuals and $240 for institutions. |
