Hughes wins contract with People's Republic of China.VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 1997--Hughes STX STX - Start Of Text Corp., an operating unit of Hughes Technical Services Co., has been awarded a contract to develop a satellite ground processing system for the China Center for Resources Satellite Data and Applications (CRESDA CRESDA Center for Resource Satellite Data and Applications (China) ). The contract is estimated at approximately $10 million. The system will process data for the China Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS CBERS China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite ), which is being jointly developed by China and Brazil to provide remote sensing data for environmental monitoring. Hughes STX, located in Lanham, Md., will design and develop a fully integrated CBERS Data Processing System (CDPS CDPS Cooperative Distributed Problem Solving CDPS Colorado Department of Public Safety CDPS Communications Data Processing System CDPS Consolidated Decision Package Set CDPS Computing & Data Processing Society (Canada) ), which will be installed in CRESDA's facility in Beijing, China. ``This award is indicative of our expertise in remote sensing processing systems,'' said Hughes STX President Ashok Kaveeshwar. ``It solidifies our position as a provider of next-generation technology to the international remote sensing ground station community.
