Huge 6-layer sheet lines built for gas tanks. (Keeping Up with Extrusion).

Several six-layer barrier sheet lines for twin-sheet thermoformed gas tanks have been delivered to the Milan, Mich., plant of Visteon Corp. Processing Technologies, inc. (PTi), Aurora, Ill. says these are the largest six--layer sheet lines in the U.S. -footprint is 48 ft wide x 120 ft long-and also the first built for this application. They have five extruders and an extremely long cooling conveyor for the heavy-gauge sheet. They are producing up to 0.5-in.-thick sheet up to 60 in. wide of HMW HMW High Molecular Weight

The first lines were delivered last November; others are under construction now. PTi: (630) 585-5800, www.ptiextruder.com
