How has your company changed since its inception? Technology has been the driving force of change in the Public Accounting industry. These changes have affected everything from the way we communicate, to the way we look at data, to the way we attract and retain our employees. To be competitive in the modern age, a firm must embrace both the challenges and benefits that the electronic age has brought. Embracing technology has brought tremendous efficiencies to the way Hudson, Cisne operates, and we have been able to not only pass these efficiencies to our clients, but help our clients become more competitive.

What are the biggest reasons for your company's success? The staff at Hudson Cisne is the most important reason for our continued success. The most challenging issue with any professional services firm is not only attracting great people, but creating an environment where they can succeed both professionally and personally. At Hudson, Cisne, we have created an environment where great accounting minds can balance challenging work, cutting edge technology, and innovative concepts all while having time for a life outside of the office. The best advocates for accounting services are the clients that you serve. Over the years, almost all of our new business has been from client referrals. We do everything we can to provide the best service possible, and our clients reward us by telling their friends and business associates about us.

What are the biggest challenges our company has faced over the years, and how has the company overcome them? Both the regulatory environment and client needs have become more complex. Since 1985, the total number of words in the IRS Code has almost doubled, from 5.7 million to more than 9 million in 2005. Due to some highly publicized company failures, the audit and accounting regulations have also become more burdensome. A successful firm must continue to strive for excellence in any endeavor it undertakes. Hudson, Cinse has been able to develop the expertise needed to manage the ever-changing landscape of public accountancy.

Why do your clients choose your company? We have earned the reputation of providing excellent service for exceptional value. We serve a wide range of clients: from. companies with hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue, to small businesses, to professionals from all backgrounds. All of these clients require different levels and depths of service. We focus on client needs by indentifying the services the client wants and delivering more than what is required. Hudson, Cisne is also a member of the BDO Alliance. BDO is the 5th largest accounting firm in the world, providing service in every state, many international locations, in many different industries, both public, private, and in government. Through this Alliance, Hudson, Cisne is able to draw on the resources of an international accounting firm, but still provide the small town service that is essential in any long term relationship.

What is an interesting fact about your company? Our culture promotes innovative community involvement. Instead of just supporting the community financially, we encourage a higher level of involvement by not only donating our resources to worthy causes, but also taking on leadership roles. One of our partners, Johnny Hudson, has recently been recognized as being one of the leaders of a unique educational project, The Aspirnaut Initiative. This program has provided college prep courses to rural students forced to ride buses for long distances by wiring the bus with the internet so the student can take courses on laptop computers and iPods. This is just one of the many great programs that our staff members have selected to support.

What was your company like 25 years ago? Hudson, Cisne was founded in 1987 to provide the same degree of service as the national and large regional firms at a reasonable price. Our philosophy was simple: we don't want to be the biggest, but we will provide an excellent service and always exceed expectations. Although technology innovations have changed the way we operate, and our clients have grown over time, we still employ the say philosophy on a daily basis: deliver exceptional results.

Where do you see your company 25 years from now? We hope to be in the same position we were in at our founding, and the position we are in today: Hudson, Cisne will never be the biggest firm in the state, but we will deliver the very best service, at a great value, in a socially responsible way. We will provide this service to our clients, our staff, and our community.
