Howmet to Supply Rolls-Royce with Engine Castings.Howmet Castings (Alcoa Industrial Components), Darien, Connecticut, agreed on the principles for a long-term contract with Rolls-Royce, plc, London, to supply single-crystal investment castings for the Trent Trent, city, ItalyTrent, Ital. Trento, Latin Tridentum, city (1991 pop. 101,545), capital of Trentino–Alto Adige and of Trent prov., N Italy, on the Adige River and on the road to the Brenner Pass. It is an industrial and tourist center. Manufactures include leather goods, machinery, metals, textiles, printed materials, and food products. Probably founded in the 4th cent. B.C., Trent was later the seat of a Lombard duchy (6th cent. 500 engine program.The agreement covers high-pressure and intermediate-pressure turbine components, both nozzle guide vanes Vane (v n), John Robert Born 1927. British pharmacologist. He shared a 1982 Nobel Prize for research on prostaglandins. The Trent 500 will be used in the four-engine Airbus A340, 500 and 600 aircraft. Howmet continues to support Rolls-Royce production, engine development and design programs from manufacturing facilities in: Exeter, England; Dives sur Mer and Gennevilliers Gennevilliers (zhĕnvēyā`), town (1990 pop. 45,052), Hauts-de-Seine dept., N central France, on the right bank of the Seine River. It is mainly an industrial community; aircraft equipment, electrical products, radio tubes, ball bearings, and automobiles are manufactured there., France; and four U.S. locations--Wichita Falls Wichita Falls, city (1990 pop. 96,259), seat of Wichita co., N Tex., on the Wichita River; inc. 1889. The city's name comes from the Wichitas and from the falls that have since been reduced to an area of rapidly flowing water in the Wichita River. The area was probably settled in the 1870s, but the town did not grow until the coming of the railroad in 1882., Texas; Winsted, Connecticut; Whitehall, Michigan; and La Porte La Porte (lə pôrt), city (1990 pop. 21,507), seat of La Porte co., NW Ind.; inc. 1835. It is a manufacturing center in fertile farmland on the edge of the Calumet industrial region. The city's products include machinery; plastic, paper, wood, rubber, and metal products; furniture; and chemicals., Indiana. Howmet also will provide support from its corporate engineering center in Hampton, Virginia. "The new agreement marks a significant milestone in the development of the Rolls-Royce/Howmet relationship, in that it takes a longer-term view of our joint business opportunities," said James R.
