Howmet to Supply Rolls-Royce with Engine Castings.


Howmet Castings Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Howmet, a division of Alcoa is a world leader in the investment casting of superalloys, aluminum and titanium primarily for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbine (IGT) engine components.  (Alcoa Industrial Components), Darien, Connecticut Darien is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is one of the most affluent communities in the United States.

, agreed on the principles for a long-term contract with Rolls-Royce, plc, London, to supply single-crystal investment castings for the Trent 500 engine program.

The agreement covers high-pressure and intermediate-pressure turbine components, both nozzle guide vanes and seal segments. When the five-year contract is signed, Howmet will be supplying 90% of Rolls-Royce's requirements for these investment cast turbine components for the Trent 500 engine.

The Trent 500 will be used in the four-engine Airbus A340, 500 and 600 aircraft.

Howmet continues to support Rolls-Royce production, engine development and design programs from manufacturing facilities in: Exeter, England; Dives sur Mer and Gennevilliers, France; and four U.S. locations--Wichita Falls, Texas; Winsted, Connecticut Winsted is a census-designated place and an incorporated city in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is part of the town of Winchester, Connecticut.The population was 7,321 at the 2000 census. ; Whitehall, Michigan; and La Porte, Indiana La Porte (French for "The Door") is a city in La Porte County, Indiana, of which it is the county seat. Howmet also will provide support from its corporate engineering center in Hampton, Virginia.
