How wise?I was dismayed to see Bernard Ber·nard , Claude 1813-1878. French physiologist noted for his study of the digestive and nervous systems. G. Prusak assert in his review of The Sheed & Ward Anthology of Catholic Philosophy (November November: see month. 17, 2006) that Socrates claimed to be "wiser than anyone else in Athens." Socrates did no such thing. He stated that "no one was wiser" than he--a significantly different proposition. CHARLES F.
