I REALLY ENJOY READING THE PUBLISHER'S PAGE every month because I have similar views. I am glad that someone is writing about the issues that need to be addressed in the community ("Saving Our Young Black Men," January January: see month.  2006). Many people know what's going on Verb 1. know what's going on - be well-informed
be on the ball, be with it, know the score, know what's what

know - know how to do or perform something; "She knows how to knit"; "Does your husband know how to cook?"
 in the community and want to help but feel like they cannot. We can start by looking out for each other instead of only looking out for ourselves. We can start by being role models and caring for our youth.

Members of the future generation should know that they don't don't  

1. Contraction of do not.

2. Nonstandard Contraction of does not.

A statement of what should not be done: a list of the dos and don'ts.
 have to be celebrities or athletes to be successful, nor do our older generations have to use money to help out their community. All they need to do is speak up, donate time, and make an effort to make a difference.
