How to Hook up Multiple Monitors to Your Computer

I''m sure you''ve seen computers that had more than one monitor and people using them.

I''m sure you''ve seen computers that had more than one monitor and people using them. This is something that businesses like to do because it makes you much more productive than what you''d normally be with one monitor. I remember when I first saw computers like this, I just assumed that they had two computers hooked up side by side, but that isn''t the case. Ever since Windows XP, your computer was capable of handling more than one monitor and Windows would instantly set you up for it. I''m going to show you how you hook it up.

The difficult part is hooking up two monitors to your computer. You need to have two video cards, one video card with two ports or a splitter wire. Today, all these items are relatively cheap and it is really your choice the route you take. Obviously the splitter wire is the easiest since you don''t have to open up your computer and install hardware. The splitter comes with an end where you can plug both monitors in and the other end will plug into your current video card.

At this point you''re just going to turn on the computer and Windows should pick up that more than one monitor is hooked up. The benefit here is that you can put different windows on different monitors, so instead of flipping through programs you can just look from monitor to monitor. Getting used to this set up can be a little tough at first, but stick with it for a week or two and you''ll catch on.
