How to Find Hair Designs That Are Right for You

There are so many different hair styles to choose from these days, it seems that even the trends are saying, ''Anything goes!'' Do you want short, spiky hair or a sleek bob? Do you want long, bouncy curls or flat as a board hair? And what about color? How about some chunky blonde pieces or some simple highlights? Are you thinking about going platinum blonde? What about blue black? Add in the option of extensions and hair weaves and the sky truly is the limit.

There are plenty of hair magazines available, some even specifically for hair designers. Pick up a few of them and page through. Also, check out some of the celebrity magazines as well. Many of the top stars like to be on the ''cutting edge'' when it comes to their hair, and you may see something you like. No matter where you see a hair style that interests you, rip out the picture. In fact, rip out a few.

Next, make an appointment with a hair stylist. You may want to go with an upscale hair stylist if you are concerned about putting your hair in the hands of an amateur. The finer salons bring in experts to give their hair dressers the latest trainings on all the new techniques, so you can be sure that they will know what they''re doing, even if you choose a wild design.

Bring the pictures you''ve chosen to your hair appointment and show them to your stylist. He or she will be able to tell you which style will work best with your hair type and face shape. If you''re interested in color or highlights, he or she will be able to help you choose something that will flatter your natural skin tone. Feel free to bring all the pictures of hair styles that appeal to you, no matter how different they are. Depending on the texture and natural bent of your hair, you may find that any one of them will be a great fit for you.

If you are unsure of what you want when you make your hair appointment, make sure that you ask for enough time to do what you want. Shampoo, cut, and style can take only a half hour, but if you want something a bit more intense like color or highlights, then you''ll need to ask for extra time. Bleaching takes even longer. Just let the receptionist know what you want, and she''ll tell you how long the appointment should be.

No matter what you choose, be brave and go for it. Try something totally out of the ordinary or create your own hairstyle with the stylist. Choose something you''ve never tried before or never thought you would. You never know. You may end up changing your whole style to match.
