STPB outlined Singapore's strengths as both a top-flight meeting and incentive destination. Among the island's distinctions are its rankings by the Union of International Associations The Union of International Associations is a non-profit non-governmental organization researching, under UN mandate, the global civil society and publishing information on international organizations, international meetings, world problems, etc. , Brussels, Belgium: top-10 convention city (1995) and number one Asian convention city for 13 consecutive years (1983-1995).

SITE President Louise Hall Reider pointed to these strengths in announcing the board's vote to hold the conference in Singapore.
