Houston's Dr. Stanislaw R. Burzynski Receives Cross of Merit Award from the Polish Government for Pioneering Research in Cancer Treatment.


HOUSTON -- On Oct. 23, 2004, the Polish American Congress The Polish American Congress is a U.S. umbrella organisation, representing, as of 2007 [1], a group of 18 Polish American organizations. Its membership is composed of fraternal, educational, veteran, religious, cultural, social, business, and political organizations, as  and the Polish community will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the first permanent Polish settlement in America at Panna Maria, Texas Panna Maria (Polish for Miss Mary) is a small town in Karnes County, Texas, USA. It is the oldest Silesian settlement in the United States. A Franciscan missionary, Father Leopold Moczygemba, started recruiting Silesian immigrants in 1852, and the town was settled on , December, 1854. A Gala Awards Banquet will be held at the Marriott Hotel-Sugar Land on Saturday, Oct. 23 (6:30 p.m. reception, 8:00 p.m. dinner.) This will be the culmination of a week-long celebration in Houston, including an art exhibit, symphony concert and educational forum highlighting Polish contributions to American culture and society.

The awards ceremony at the Gala Banquet on Oct. 23 will include a presentation of the Polish Cross of Merit There are hundreds of decorations that bear the name "Cross of Merit".
