Housing competition time.


There are two months left to register expressions of interest in one of the larger global architectural competitions of recent years, organised by Living Steel, a consortium of steel-makers from across the globe. The competition, which was announced at the UIA UIA Universidad Iberoamericana (México)

 Congress in Istanbul Istanbul (ĭs'tănbl`, ĭstan`bl), city (1990 pop. 6,748,435), capital of Istanbul prov.  earlier this year, is to design high-quality, affordable housing using steel, in the first instance for sites in Poland and India. Other sites in other countries will later be chosen as part of a five-year programme. From the expressions of interest list, Living Steel, which intends to build on the chosen sites, will invite up to a dozen firms to take part in the (paid) design stage of the competition. Judges include Glenn Murcutt Glenn Murcutt (born 25 July 1936, London, England) while his parents were in Europe for the Olympic Games, is an Australian Architect. He is also the founding president of the Australian Architecture Association. He won the Alvar Aalto Medal in 1992, and the Pritzker Prize in 2002.  and Charles Correa Charles Correa (born in Hyderabad, India on September 1 1930) is an Indian architect, planner, activist, theoretician and a fundamental figure in the world-wide panorama of contemporary architecture. .
