Housing Federation turns 50.The Federation of New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. Both awards were named after the deceased husband and wife team of Charles and Eva Rappaport, long-term president and executive director of the Federation and champions of cooperative living. "Tonight we celebrate our past, honor our present and toast our future," stated Albert F. Pennisi, president of the Federation. "We are proud of our many achievements and look forward to continuing our tradition of bringing information to our members and fighting for the rights of our constituents." A particularly frustrating issue the Federation has been involved in for years is the struggle to have cooperatives and condominiums recognized as Class I properties for configuration of real estate taxes. Miller promised to work with the Federation and the City Council to see that this inequity is finally favorably resolved. |
