Hotels: ranked by the number of guest rooms.EXECUTIVE SUMMARY THE generally stable list of Los Angeles County s 50 largest hotels, accounting for 26,212 rooms, saw little movement last year, although there were a few signs of change. Sheraton Gateway Hotel Los Angeles Airport moved into the Top 5, adding 75 rooms in a $13.5 million renovation. No. 24 Warner Center Marriott underwent a $5 million renovation, adding 13 rooms. No. 15 Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Airport moved down one spot, converting rooms into larger suites and decreasing its count by 14. Ownership changes affected six hotels, including the 10th on the list, the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, which CIM Group Inc. purchased from Trizec Properties Inc. in February as part of the $201 million sale of the Hollywood & Highland complex. Entertainment mogul Merv Griffin sold the Beverly Hilton, No. 14, in December to Oasis West Realty LLC, owned by computer entrepreneur Beny Alagem, for $130 million. The hotel is undergoing a $50 million facelift. --Nicole Taylor THE PACESETTER WESTIN BONAVENTURE HOTEL AND SUITES WITH no new large-scale construction and a handful of renovations ongoing among L.A. County hotels, the Westin Bonaventure easily reclaimed its title as the largest hotel countywide, with 1,354 rooms. Built in 1976, the hotel's five mirrored glass towers cover an entire city block in downtown Los Angeles. The Bonaventure's features a six-level atrium lobby lined with shops and boutiques, plus a rooftop steakhouse and a revolving cocktail lounge. The convention hotel contains 27 meeting rooms totaling 110,000 square feet. Its largest space, the California Ballroom, measures over 26,000 square feet and seats 3,000. Room renovations were completed earlier this year, with high-speed Internet added and new beds installed. After a split with LA Inc., the convention and visitors bureau, the Bonaventure rejoined last month. The hotel was expelled from the bureau for refusing to pay membership dues, which it withheld after complaining about LA Inc.'s inability to bring conventions to Los Angeles. The hotel has resumed paying its quarterly dues, but will not pay back dues. Peter Zen, president of FIT Investment Corp., which owns the Bonaventure, has also filed a lawsuit to block the City of Los Angeles from subsidizing construction of a 1,200-room convention center hotel near the Staples Center. --Nicole Taylor
