The Hilton brand was re-united internationally after more than 40 years in February 2006, when United States-based Hilton Corp. sold five Canadian Canadian (kənā`dēən), river, 906 mi (1,458 km) long, rising in NE New Mexico. and flowing E across N Texas and central Oklahoma into the Arkansas River in E Oklahoma. hotels and
announced it will manage two Irish "hotels. The Beverly Hills-based
company will continue to manage the Canadian hotels, which were sold to
Westmont Hospitality Group for about $204 million. Two of the five
hotels are in Toronto: a 600-room in the downtown area and a 413-room
property at the city's airport. The 571-room Hilton Quebec, the
486-room Hilton Montreal Aeroport and the 197-room Hilton St. John in
New Brunswick New Brunswick, province, Canada New Brunswick, province (2001 pop. 729,498), 28,345 sq mi (73,433 sq km), including 519 sq mi (1,345 sq km) of water surface, E Canada. also were sold. Hilton said it will continue to manage the
properties under their new ownership. The Irish hotels, being built in
Limerick Limerick, city, Republic of Ireland Limerick, city (1991 pop. 56,083), seat of Co. Limerick, SW Republic of Ireland, at the head of the Shannon estuary. The city has a port with two docks. and Dublin, should be completed in early 2007 and should employ
about 250 workers, Hilton said. The properties will be owned by
Dublin-based development company Lalco. The deal increases the number of
Hilton brand hotels in Ireland to nine.
