Hotel boss is out to launch; NEWS SNIPS.

CORK: The north county town of Fermoy could soon become the St Louis of Ireland if plans to build a floating restaurant get the go-ahead.

Planning permission for the 60-seater theme restaurant on a Mississippi style steam boat is being sought by hotelier Emlyn Heaps.

It is proposed that the two-deck boat will weigh 30 tonnes, measure 57ft by 17ft and will be moored at Ashe Quay on the River Blackwater.

Mr Heaps added that the project, if approved, would be a boon to the local tourist trade.
