There are more than 28 million deaf and hearing-impaired people in the United States, according to the National Association of the Deaf. That means there could be more than 2.8 million deaf and hearing-impaired gays and lesbians in this country. For almost four years the Deaf Queer Resource Center has been one of the best sites for deaf lesbians and gay men to meet one another, exchange ideas, and debate topics such as mixed (deaf-nondeaf) couples and homophobia in the straight deaf community.
