Hospitality group buys Colony Inn.


The 86-room Colony Inn located on the campus of Yale University Yale University, at New Haven, Conn.; coeducational. Chartered as a collegiate school for men in 1701 largely as a result of the efforts of James Pierpont, it opened at Killingworth (now Clinton) in 1702, moved (1707) to Saybrook (now Old Saybrook), and in 1716 was  here has been acquired by Hospitality 3, hotel development specialists with offices in Washington, Conn. and Manhattan.

The company has temporarily closed the 46-year-old facility to permit a comprehensive renovation and expansion that will transform it into a 126-room, upscale boutique hotel Boutique hotel is a term originating in North America to describe intimate, usually luxurious or quirky hotel environments. Boutique hotels differentiate themselves from larger chain/branded hotels and motels by providing personalized level accommodation and services / facilities. .

The hotel's new rooms and suites will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and amenities.

Aside from the two new floors of guest rooms, the plans call for a new full-service restaurant that will offer a private dining area for small business dinners and special occasions and updated spaces for meetings and banquets.

Hospitality 3's management team has more than 50 years of combined experience in the design, planning and execution of hospitality development.
