Hospital project wins award. (Design and Development).

New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 Hospital Queens' New East Pavilion, designed by Swanke Hayden Connell Architects/Taylor Clark Healthcare Group, is the recipient of two local awards. The project received a first place plaque in the building awards competition sponsored by the Queens Chamber of Commerce. The plaque was presented at the 89th annual dinner of the Chamber on Dec. 4. The Queens County Queens County or Queen's County is the name of:

  • Queens County, Nova Scotia, Canada
  • Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Canada
  • former Queen's County (electoral district)
 Builder and Contractors Association gave the project its 2001 Building Award, which was presented by Queens borough president Borough President (informally BP, or Beep in slang) is an elective office in each of the five boroughs of New York City.

The offices of borough president were created in 1898 with the formation of the City of Greater New York.

The East Pavilion is a three-story, 75,000 SF building on the southeast corner of the Medical Center, containing a new ER with fast track, chest pain center, pediatric pediatric /pe·di·at·ric/ (pe?de-at´rik) pertaining to the health of children.

 emergency, and discrete treatment areas, as well as a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care, obstetrics, nursery, labor delivery, and Cesarean section cesarean section (sĭzâr`ēən), delivery of an infant by surgical removal from the uterus through an abdominal incision. The operation is of ancient origin: indeed, the name derives from the legend that Julius Caesar was born in this  units. The Pavilion is part of a project that included major renovations of existing inpatient and ambulatory facilities on both the site and in the community. The total project cost was $72 million.

The architectural project team consisted of Ellie Dalton, principal in charge; Magdy Youssef, project director; George Zarins, project architect; Ellen Chan, architect; and Judy Campbell, interiors.
