Hospice Patient's End-of-Life Wish to Come True; Local Hospice Company Making Patient's End-of-Life Wish to Marry Possible; Employees Join Together to Throw Wedding at Patient's Bedside.
WHO: Pedro Sanchez, 51, a hospice patient with Trinity
Hospice's Dallas office, was diagnosed with multiple
myloma, a rare form of blood cancer, in December 2004. His
death is imminent. His end-of-life wish is to marry his
partner, Lenora Castro, of 22 years and with whom he has
four children. Sanchez came to Trinity as a Parkland
Hospital referral, with no funding resources.
WHAT: The Sanchez-Castro Wedding
Beyond providing Sanchez with complimentary end-of-life
medical care, the medical professionals and employees of
the Trinity-Dallas office have banded together to make
Sanchez' wish come true. They are throwing them a wedding
and have handled all the details -- from obtaining
marriage licenses and getting flowers and the cake topper
to buying the wedding rings and wedding apparel.
Dr. Robert Harr, Trinity's chaplain, will officiate the
service.
