Horse Racing: BLOODSTOCK DESK - Dual-purpose sire Revoque in switch.
REVOQUE will stand at Yorton Farm in Shropshire next season as a jumps stallion. The 12-year-old son of Fairy King, who has stood the past three seasons at Rathbarry Stud in Ireland, has been assigned a fee of pounds 2,000.
Unbeaten as a two-year-old, Revoque was second to Entrepreneur in the 2,000 Guineas of 1997. He retired to stud the following year and has since become a consistent sire under both codes.
His runners include last year's 2,000 Guineas second Rebel Rebel, as well as the top-class hurdler Queen Astrid, who tied the sale record for a broodmare when realising EUR230,000 at the recent Tattersalls Ireland National Hunt Sale.
"Revoque offers a great opportunity for British breeders to use a stallion of his calibre," said Yorton Stud manager David Futter.
The stud has also acquired 1999 Middle Park Stakes hero Primo Valentino, who will stand for pounds 1,500.
From two crops to race, the son of Primo Dominie has sired the winners of more than 15 races to date, including the dual winner Safari Mischief and the promising two-year-old Roodolf.
