Horoscopes By Holiday for March 27

Mercury, Uranus and Jupiter align for a cosmic cocktail party. It's a consciousness-raising party too, as everyone's sharing his or her two cents on everything from global warming to the gorgeous brainchild of the moment. So mingle, mingle, mingle! You never know who you're talking to, and how that bright idea of yours will pay off.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Regarding that conversation you think you need to have with someone — make it short. One sentence. Five words will do it. You give your words more power when you use them sparingly.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Multitasking is usually not as productive for you as a single focus. Though you're better off doing one thing at a time, switch projects after about two hours. You'll accomplish an impressive amount.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Your imagination dances. You may even feel ready to let your brainchildren be seen by others. A Capricorn can help you design a plan that will allow your project to attract the right kind of attention.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). People make decisions you weren't expecting, and it affects you directly. Your first reaction is extreme. What you think of after a few hours will be much more reasonable and ultimately good for everyone.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). The stars highlight your talent for working well with those who have special requirements. The young, elderly, sick or just plain difficult people are drawn to you. They need your care, and you need to give it to them.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (March 27). This year, you're the master of workable solutions, the wizard of results. People at work grow to depend on you through the spring, and by June, you can ask for that much deserved raise. June is the most romantic month, partly due to new locations you visit. Your ties to Libra and Pisces bring wonder to your world. Your lucky numbers are: 7, 12, 16, 25, and 33.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). It's been said that the meek will inherit the earth. But not today. Bold moves are rewarded. You can be strong without being pushy, ambitious but not smarmy. You find a charming middle ground.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You learn the truth. And you know exactly where to go from there. What happens during your personal breakthrough may be small as a breath. But the realization will be grand.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You like to prove that you are capable and independent. However, it's really not necessary to travel your road alone. Let someone who's been there before show you the potholes to avoid.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Before you bail on a relationship, be realistic. You're not going to love every minute of any relationship. Cut through petty annoyances and look at the fundamentals before you make a decision.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You're on the move, ready to find your way in new places and forge new connections. If you must bring a companion on this journey, just make sure it's someone who wants to go almost as much as you do.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Approach a romantic problems from every possible angle; answers are available but not obvious. When in doubt, give. It's almost impossible to "give until it hurts" because the hurting never comes.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It's a strange social fact that people like those they have helped better than those who have helped them. So don't be afraid to ask for assistance. You could be strengthening a bond by doing so.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: "I consider myself a rational, practical person. Yet when I tell people that I follow astrology, their skepticism challenges me. I'm not sure if I even believe in astrology, and I certainly can't justify why it speaks to me, it just does."

I get thousands of letters from astrology readers, but my favorites are the ones that start, "I don't believe in astrology ... " and end " ... so what's in the stars for me?" Plenty of people don't believe, but "believing" is kind of beside the point. You can use astrology whether you're a believer or not. Astrology provides an opportunity to pause for self-reflection. It's all about the personal: What's happening to you, in your life and in your head? Instead of expecting your horoscope to predict the future, try reading your horoscope at the end of the day — as a way of looking back on the events and interactions you've had since you woke up, and thinking about what they meant to you, how they shaped you, what your reactions said about you. CELEBRITY PROFILES: Aries people are zealous. Whether strategizing a project or hedging bets on a baseball game, miniscule or massive — size doesn't matter — their fervor is "of the moment." Vince Vaughn has this zeal, and he's as earnest as he is possessed. It's as though through sheer grit and wit, Vince has made even the most remotely likable characters endearing.
