Horizons Technology signs new international distributors for TrueMotion-S software-only video; new distributors to bring high-quality software-only video to Europe and Israel.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 1995--In a move to expand its international distribution, Horizons Technology Inc. (HTI) has signed five new distributors based in Europe and Israel to carry the company's TrueMotion-S(R) video compression software.

The distributors, who participated in an international reseller training on digital video held at HTI's headquarters in San Diego earlier this month, have signed up as authorized HTI resellers of the new software-only video compressor.

"We are pleased with the industry's response to TrueMotion-S software both in the U.S. and internationally and look forward to working with our new international partners in business," said Cynthia Mordaunt, vice president of marketing for HTI. "The establishment of a strong channel in Europe and Israel is essential to the expansion of TrueMotion-S technology and has laid the foundation for an aggressive international channel development program."

The new TrueMotion-S distributors include Multimedia Solutions, based in Cork, Ireland and serving Ireland, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom; Groupe Iepso, based in Paris and serving the French domestic market; DMJ, based in Madrid and serving Spain; Holland-based CD-ONE B.V., and Koor Communications Isratel, based in Tel Aviv and serving Israel.

The announcement of these new distributors follows a recent announcement of new distribution for HTI in the Japanese market. HTI recently signed Fukuoka, Japan-based Expression Tools Inc., a leading developer and distributor of software products in Japan, to resell its entire line of digital video and multimedia products including TrueMotion-S software and HTI's Open!Info(tm) Manager multimedia authoring software.

TrueMotion-S Based On Intraframe Compression

Introduced in April 1995, HTI's TrueMotion-S compression software is priced at $499 for either the Macintosh or Windows version. The software is based on intraframe compression which, like analog technologies such as film and video, provides creative professionals with access to each frame of video for editing and playback. This ensures the highest level of creative flexibility and the ability to enhance interactivity with VCR-like controls such as fast forward and reverse.

TrueMotion-S is rapidly gaining acceptance as the outstanding alternative to hardware-assisted algorithms such as MPEG; and to other software-only algorithms such as Indeo(R) video or Cinepak(R) because of its ease of implementation, higher picture quality capabilities and cross-platform support. TrueMotion-S was originally developed by the Duck Corp. for dedicated applications such as the Sega game box.
